"Take a stitch Tuesday" challenge

This week stitch for the "take a stitch Tuesday" challenge is the Buttonhole stitch, in the classic Italian embroidery it's used for making "intaglio" or to finish a border of a table cloth or bed linen. The thread used is DMC muliné (two or three strands depend from the fabric) and the stitches are very close each other. When the embroidery is completed the fabric aroun is cut away. I made the curtains in my bathroom and in my sitting room in intaglio

Beatiful. And you have reminded me of a dressing table set I started using cut work many years ago. I will have to find them. I didn't know it was Italian and called intaglio then.
